Folk Arts & Crafts: Timeless Treasures

This exhibition poses an ongoing question, What is Folk Art? This whimsical and cross-cultural exhibition of fine and applied art includes the nuances of naïve, unschooled artists and artistic traditions practiced through decades and sometimes centuries. This exhibition reminds the viewer that art, whether it is utilitarian, or to embellish, sanctifies everyday life.  As countries become more industrial, and the urban landscapes grow, we see a reemergence of original crafts generated by “everyday people”. This show combines past traditions with present interests, sensibilities and styles worldwide. Featured artists, galleries and private collections include: James C. Buchanan, Deb West, Garde Rail Gallery, Kyoto Art and Antiques, Milagros – Mexican Folk Art, Music For The Eyes – Central Asian Textiles, Seattle Folk Antiques, ZAP – Zimbabwe Artists Project, and Artwork from the Private Collections of: Cynthia Livak, Adam L. Weintraub & Xiomara Romero
